The Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Field Technician to join our team. As a Field Technician, you'll be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing our network infrastructure, including fiber optic cables, transmission equipment, and other telecommunications systems.

Your primary duties will include:

  • Troubleshooting network equipment and identifying potential problem areas to ensure network integrity.
  • Installing and testing network and customer premise equipment, including fiber optic transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network layers.
  • Utilizing industry-standard software and hardware tools to accurately locate, mark, and protect underground outside plant facilities.
  • Maintaining tools, test sets, and all network equipment, including AC and DC power equipment.
  • Performing level 1 preventive scheduled maintenance and inspections on network and critical infrastructure equipment, including HVAC systems, high-voltage electrical systems, and DC power plants.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, or up to 2 years of relevant job experience, including 1+ years of network monitoring, installation, or maintenance/repair.
  • Entry-level technician experience and/or knowledge of at least one of the four major technician disciplines: Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit-switching/SS7), TCP/IP (routers/higher-layer protocols), and Outside Plant (Fiber locating, OTDR, Mass Fusion Splicing, etc.).
  • Knowledge of locating fiber optic cable, right-of-way, and As-Builts.
  • Ability to maintain site security and cleanliness.
  • Proficiency in PC skills and Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
  • Ability to quickly learn corporate databases.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; lift 75 lbs.; work in all weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications

We're looking for candidates with:

  • 2+ years of relevant job experience.
  • Attention to detail with good organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize with good time management skills.
Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$40,500 - $53,500 in these states: UT

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
