As an Assistant Teacher, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Lead Teacher in delivering a tailored curriculum in a nurturing classroom environment for toddlers and preschool-aged children. Your responsibilities will include fostering partnerships with families to address the unique needs of each child and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards through timely documentation.
Key Responsibilities:- Fulfill all new employee requirements set by Easterseals Blake Foundation and the Center, including orientation, training, and health mandates.
- Assist in creating a welcoming classroom atmosphere that promotes learning based on the developmental stages of the children.
- Implement and adapt curriculum designed by the teaching staff, ensuring it aligns with the developmental needs of the children.
- Support children with special needs by executing their Individual Family Service Plans or Individual Educational Plans.
- Utilize diverse teaching methods to facilitate learning, adapting to each child's preferred learning style.
- Encourage cooperation and interaction among children, allowing them to lead small group activities.
- Promote self-regulation and responsibility in children, intervening when necessary to resolve conflicts.
- Build collaborative relationships with parents and families to achieve shared educational goals.
- Work in partnership with the Director, colleagues, and community organizations to meet the needs of the children effectively.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in early childhood education.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
Minimum Requirements:
- A Child Development Associate Credential (CDA), or
- 12 college credits in early childhood education, early childhood special education, elementary education, or child development.
- Bilingual skills are advantageous.
General Requirements:
- Pass a required physical examination and TB skin test prior to employment.
- Clear criminal background check and ability to obtain an AZ DPS Level 1 fingerprint clearance card.
- Possess a valid Arizona Driver's License and maintain a good driving record.
Skills Required:
- Understanding of typical and atypical child development.
- Familiarity with developmentally appropriate educational practices.
- Sensitivity to cultural and linguistic diversity.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with teaching staff.
- Proficiency in using technology for documentation and record-keeping.
