OVERVIEW:

As a Poultry Breeding Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing expert guidance to producers in the care of the company's avian stock, ensuring optimal quality and welfare standards.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Addressing and resolving grower challenges while fostering strong relationships between producers and the organization.
  • Delivering up-to-date scientific knowledge as directed to enhance farm productivity.
  • Consulting with producers on specifications for facilities and equipment.
  • Advising on litter management and sanitation practices on farms.
  • Conducting regular farm visits, necessitating frequent travel.
  • Accurately documenting bird welfare, flock management, and equipment settings, including light and feeding schedules.
  • Monitoring key metrics such as bird health, egg yield, body weight, and feed intake.
  • Collecting blood and fat samples in a timely manner.
  • Coordinating bird placements to farms and assisting with catch schedules, ensuring effective communication among Hatchery, Feed Mill, vaccination teams, and transportation services.
  • Ensuring compliance with production contracts to achieve high-quality flocks at minimal costs.
  • Adhering to USDA and other regulatory guidelines when managing poultry.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum age of 18 years.
  • A college education (at least 2 years), preferably a bachelor's degree in Poultry Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • The ability to work independently, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative.
  • A strong work ethic, integrity, and ethical character.
  • Basic mathematical skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work in a noisy environment (over 85 decibels) and around moving machinery.
