Job Title: Traffic Control Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Traffic Control Specialist to join our team at the City of Clovis. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic in our community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, and repair traffic devices in accordance with City and State laws and the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
  • Assist with field studies to determine traffic volume, speed, and other factors influencing traffic conditions.
  • Perform electrical repairs in all city facilities.
  • Climb ladders or stand in tower-trucks to reach traffic devices.
  • Test circuits and electronic components to detect faulty equipment.
  • Replace blown fuses and bulbs, faulty transformers, timers, electrodes, and wires using electricians' hand tools.
  • Construct and install regulatory signs.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience in electronics or electricity, or equivalent.
Licenses and Certificates:
  • Valid New Mexico driver's license or equivalent.
  • Nationally recognized Level I Certification in Signing and Marking and a Level I in Traffic Signals.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of reading and understanding plan drawings and electrical circuit diagrams and schematics.
  • Skills in welding and experience involving electronic or electrical repair.
  • Ability to understand and follow basic safety precautions, rules, and regulations.
Physical Requirements:
  • Moderately heavy work involving frequent standing, walking, balancing, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Pushing, pulling, and lifting items weighing up to 100 pounds.
Working Conditions:
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services.
  • Position is subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and City of Clovis policies.
  • Essential duties are predominantly performed outdoors with exposure to all types of weather conditions.
