Job Summary

We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Duke Primary Care. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and supporting our healthcare team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where you will have the chance to make a real difference in the lives of our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Take medical histories and record vital signs
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients and prepare them for examinations and procedures
  • Assist medical and nursing staff during examinations and procedures
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
  • Perform basic laboratory tests in the clinic/office
  • Take electrocardiograms, remove sutures/staples, and change sterile and non-sterile dressings
  • Document patient records and communicate with patients and families
  • Perform other clinical and administrative duties as delegated by the physician
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
