Position Overview:
The University of Iowa Health Care is in search of a dedicated Registered Nurse to utilize nursing principles in the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and assessment of patient responses to health conditions. This role involves understanding patient healthcare preferences and expectations while effectively coordinating care across various settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Employs nursing principles for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
  • Evaluates patient healthcare preferences and expectations.
  • Collaboratively manages the continuum of care across different environments.
  • Formulates a patient care plan tailored to individual conditions, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic factors, prescribing interventions to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Executes the patient care plan based on patient priorities, including interventions identified through nursing diagnoses, while documenting and reporting interventions and patient/family responses.
  • Collaborates with patients and families to integrate their contributions into a multidisciplinary patient care plan.
  • Develops, coordinates, and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout the care episode.
  • Implements nursing interventions in accordance with departmental, divisional, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Work Schedule:
90% time commitment with 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) including rotating weekends and holidays.

Compensation:
Salary range of $54,000, with additional inpatient differentials and potential shift differentials based on experience.

Qualifications:
Education and Certification:

  • An Associate's degree, Diploma, Bachelor's degree, or Master's degree in Nursing is required.
  • Current nursing license in Iowa is mandatory.
Experience:
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with patients, families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Proficient in general computer skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing is highly desirable.
  • Active enrollment in a BSN program if the Bachelor's Degree is not yet obtained.
  • Familiarity with university policies and procedures.
