The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is in search of a Registered Nurse to undertake specific responsibilities in supporting the Nursing team in delivering patient care under the direct oversight of the Nurse Manager.

Key Responsibilities of our Registered Nurses include but are not limited to:

Utilizes nursing principles for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health conditions. Evaluates patient healthcare preferences and expectations. Collaboratively manages the continuum of care across various settings. Formulates patient care plans based on individual patient conditions, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic factors, prescribing interventions to achieve desired outcomes. Executes patient care plans according to patient priorities, which include interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Records and reports interventions and patient/family responses. Collaborates and integrates the contributions of patients and families into a multidisciplinary patient care plan. Develops, coordinates, and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout the care episode. Implements nursing interventions in accordance with departmental, divisional, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff, adhering to universal precautions.

Work Commitment: 50-100%
Schedule: 20-40 hours per week, shift preferences negotiable, holiday obligations may apply.
Compensation: Salary ranges from $30,000 (at 50% effort) to commensurate (excluding inpatient or shift differentials).
Pay Differentials: Shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Additional pay for shifts exceeding 4 hours. Inpatient differential of $5,000 annually.

Required Education:

An Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader, or a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required.

Required Experience:

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members through effective written and verbal interactions. Basic computer skills are necessary. A current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or a Master's Degree in Nursing is highly preferred. If a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing has not yet been obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable. Previous RN experience in a Psychiatric and Medical Hospital Unit is advantageous.
