Bartender Job Description

At The Patio Restaurant and Lounge, we are seeking a skilled Bartender to join our team. As a Bartender, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, preparing and serving beverages, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcoming customers, determining beverage preferences, and making recommendations.
  • Selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to customers.
  • Checking identification to ensure customers are of legal age to purchase alcohol and ensuring that customers are not over-served.
  • Taking inventory and ordering supplies to ensure the bar and tables are properly stocked.
  • Adhering to all food and drink safety and quality regulations.
  • Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate, and returning correct change to patrons.
  • Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment as needed.
Requirements:
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Valid BASSET card and Food Handler's Certification as required by IL Food Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English (verbal and written).
  • Positive, engaging personality and professional appearance.
  • Strong task and time management abilities.
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently prepare complicated cocktail recipes.
  • Eye for detail and understanding of drink mixing tools and techniques.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, etc. for extended periods, and lift up to 25 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous Bartending experience preferred but not required.
