We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Support Custodian SO-02 to join our team at Cornell University's Student and Campus Life division. As a key member of our Residential and Event Services team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and operational readiness of key public use areas, including lobbies, offices, classrooms, conference rooms, dining halls, restrooms, and other assigned community use facility spaces.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the cleanliness and operational readiness of assigned areas, including lobbies, offices, classrooms, conference rooms, dining halls, restrooms, and other community use facility spaces.
- Assess custodial maintenance needs and execute tasks to ensure high standards are consistently met.
- Provide excellent customer service to building guests and students, demonstrating effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, being creative and flexible to support special events or unforeseen circumstances.
- Perform highly-detailed and labor-intensive custodial support tasks, consistently meeting high standards.
- High School diploma or equivalent with at least 1 year of relevant experience in a customer service field, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Must be able to effectively read and write in English.
- Basic computer knowledge and troubleshooting experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid NY State driver's license.
- Physical Requirements include: able to lift 50 lbs, operate necessary power equipment, climb an 8 ft. ladder, stand for long periods, work in all weather conditions and extreme temperatures, and be free of debilitating dust allergies.
- Additional education beyond high school or additional experience in a custodial role.
- Knowledge and previous experience working in a Student Center, Event Center, and/or Conference Center operation.
- Previous experience performing event setups and demonstrated proficiency in basic audiovisual support.
