Job Summary

The Christ Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Health Unit Coordinator II/CMR to join our team. As a Health Unit Coordinator II/CMR, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communication
    • Ensure effective communication with clinical staff, patients, and families to provide timely and accurate information.
    • Utilize various communication systems to facilitate communication and collaboration.
    • Facilitate communication with ancillary departments to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Cardiac Monitoring Unit Responsibilities
    • Monitor cardiac rhythms and communicate abnormalities to nursing staff in a timely manner.
    • Provide accurate and timely admission, discharge, and transfer of patients within the telemetry monitoring system.
    • Manage alerts to be sent to nursing staff and verify telemetry orders match the monitor and EPIC.
  • Health Unit Coordinator Responsibilities
    • Provide clerical support to the clinical team in carrying out daily functions of patient care.
    • Initiate and/or ensure the data entry of patient-related functions and processes.
    • Manage the medical record and its related forms and documents from admission to discharge.
  • Computer Responsibilities
    • Timely admission, discharge, and transfer of patients within the telemetry monitoring system.
    • Manage alerts to be sent to nursing staff and verify telemetry orders match the monitor and EPIC.
    • Enter/record unit-based charges as appropriate.
  • Chart Responsibilities
    • File rhythm strips appropriately within the chart.
    • Maintain downtown procedures when applicable.
    • Chart maintenance-current and old charts.
  • Environment/Supplies/Equipment
    • Monitor tube system.
    • Use fax, copier, printer.
    • Routine maintenance for fax, copier, printer, etc.

Qualifications
  • High School graduate or GED.
  • Previous HUC experience of 3 years (for HUC Trainer).
  • Competent in reading at the 9th grade level and in math at the 7th grade level.
  • Typing at 25 words per minute.
  • Able to pass pre-hire basic computer literacy test.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Health Unit Coordinator certification.
  • Certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers.
