Position Description:
The University of California, Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine is in search of an exceptional Health Sciences Assistant, Associate, or Full Clinical Professor in the HS Professor Series, Open Rank. The division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology within the Family Medicine department is dedicated to patient care, medical education, research, and community health. Our mission is to Discover, Teach, Heal, and Serve.
Our division comprises Family Medicine and Internal Medicine physicians, advanced practice providers, and psychologists, fostering a collaborative approach to Geriatric medicine, alongside researchers and dedicated staff. Geriatricians provide care in various settings, including affiliated skilled nursing facilities and in patients' homes.
The Division has secured significant grants and donations aimed at enhancing the health of seniors through innovative clinical care, education, workforce development, and safeguarding seniors from abuse and neglect. We offer a distinguished Geriatric Fellowship with three fellows annually, promoting a thriving environment for professionals committed to improving care for the aging population.
Requirements:
Candidates must possess an M.D. or D.O. from an accredited institution, along with appropriate clinical training and experience. Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine and board eligibility/certification in Geriatric Medicine is required, along with excellent clinical skills and a strong interest in clinical teaching. Eligibility for medical staff privileges at UC Irvine Medical Center is also necessary. Candidates should demonstrate capabilities in teaching, professional services, and/or research suitable for the HS Clinical Professor series.
Practice Information:
We are looking for a passionate and compassionate geriatrician to become part of an interdisciplinary outpatient practice at the SeniorHealth Center at UC Irvine Medical Center. The academic clinician will join the clinician-educator faculty series, collaborating with other Geriatricians, Advanced Practice Providers, Psychologists, Pharmacists, and Social Workers. Our objective is to deliver exceptional medical care to a diverse patient population. The outpatient practice serves as a teaching site for all levels of academic learners. Successful candidates will have a proven track record in program development, teaching, and academic scholarship in geriatrics, with recognition at national or international levels. A background in healthcare and experience in a medical school or academic health setting is highly desirable. Applicants should be capable of leading and expanding existing programs.
