Job Description:

  • As a Senior Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you will assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. You will also be responsible for operating pharmacy systems, processing prescriptions, and providing excellent customer service.
  • You will model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, engaging with customers and patients to resolve issues and answer questions. You will also develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
  • Under the supervision of the pharmacist, you will assist in the practice of pharmacy, reviewing and complying with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct. You will perform duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information.
  • You will also be responsible for registering all related sales on assigned cash registers, collecting and handling cash as required. You will handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
  • Additionally, you will process manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and perform other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
  • You will lead Pharmacy Department inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals. You will maintain knowledge of Company asset protection techniques and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
  • You will assist and support the Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in analyzing and seeking to improve pharmacy financial, customer service, and inventory performance data. You will review Rx KPIs with the Store Manager and Healthcare Supervisor.
  • You may also assist the pharmacist in administering clinical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other clinical services as required. You will assist pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics, and external providers.
  • You will assist the Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers, by medical provider detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for enhancing growth opportunities.
  • You will also assist with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat, and orderly in condition and appearance.
  • You will coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the correct use of processes and tools in order to drive efficiency within the pharmacy.
  • You will comply with all company policies and procedures, maintaining respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • You will complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Customer Experience:

  • You will engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. You will resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • You will model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
  • You will develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.

Operations:

  • You will assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, under direct supervision, in accordance with state and federal regulations. You will assist the pharmacist in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • You will be responsible for operating pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. You will assist with and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of the pharmacy cash registers.
  • You will model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

Training & Personal Development:

  • You will maintain PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.
  • You will attend training and complete PPLs requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits. You will maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
