Job Title: Lead Case Manager (Maryland)

Reporting To: Program Director

Role Summary

The Lead Case Manager is tasked with overseeing case management and ensuring safe and timely release services, mentoring new case managers, and supervising the activities of the case management team.

Key Responsibilities

The Lead Case Manager will undertake various duties, including but not limited to:
  • Conduct all operations in alignment with the National Youth Advocate Program's Mission, Values, and Philosophies.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, case consultation, and daily support to program staff.
  • Coordinate safe and timely release services in partnership with the NYAP team and designated staff or contractors.
  • Travel as necessary to deliver and support services for youth and families in accordance with organizational, contractual, and regulatory standards.
  • Complete all mandated training and documentation promptly.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with assigned foster parents.
  • Assist program staff in identifying and evaluating potential sponsors, gathering necessary information, and assessing suitability.
  • Support program staff in safety assessments, crisis intervention, and behavioral stabilization services to ensure the safety and stability of children served.
  • Engage in Continuous Quality Improvement activities on a monthly or quarterly basis.
  • Actively participate in the regular supervision process.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in social work or a related behavioral science field from an accredited institution.
  • State licensure as a graduate or certified social worker.
  • Experience supervising, monitoring, and evaluating child placement staff.
  • Supervise a maximum of six child placement workers.
  • Demonstrate a genuine commitment to serving and advocating for youth and families.
  • Possess a valid professional license as required by state or contract regulations.
  • Hold a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, automotive insurance, and maintain a good driving record.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Competent in using desktop and laptop computers, internet resources, people management software, smartphones, tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers, as well as software for word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

  • Willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours to support foster caregivers, families of origin, and individuals served.
  • Ability to be adaptable and responsive to the needs of youth, foster caregivers, system partners, and both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capacity to maintain objectivity and professionalism in all job functions.
  • Exhibit tolerance and respect for diverse ideas and actions.
  • Possess a sincere desire and capability to advocate for children facing behavioral health, immigration, educational, legal, developmental, and socio-economic challenges.
