Job Summary:

Maintain and repair equipment, vehicles, and/or facilities used for carrying out operations.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams.
  • Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies.
  • Use diagnostic equipment, visual inspection, and other tools to diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs.
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure accurate performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings as necessary in order to accurately operate equipment.
  • Install new ignition systems, change/charge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts.
  • Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and equipment, and makes adjustments.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
  • Fabricate special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings.
  • Maintain clean tools and working area.
  • Perform high and low voltage electrical trouble shooting and repairs.
  • Perform other routine duties such as building maintenance, equipment hauling, and equipment operation.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Certificate in Diesel Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • ASE Certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license; required to maintain acceptable driving record.
  • DOT Medical Examiner Certificate and/or ability to obtain required.
  • Commercial Drivers' License (CDL) preferred.
Skills:
  • 3 or more years of experience as a diesel/heavy equipment mechanic preferred.
  • Experience performing U.S. DOT vehicle and brake inspections and adjustments preferred.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Basic computer skill, including ability to operate mobile device (phone, tablet, etc.) and related applications.
Physical Requirements:
  • Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Must maintain and provide basic tooling required for position; specialty tooling provided by the Company.
  • Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle, and manipulate objects.
  • Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear).
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Standing/working on feet for long periods (8 hours or more), and walking across uneven terrain.
  • Frequently exposed to loud noise produced by machinery and equipment.
  • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes, chemicals, or airborne particles.
Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation*: $24-$32 DOE

*Estimated target starting compensation; actual compensation to be determined based on assessment of an individual's qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.

Benefits: All full-time hourly employees are eligible to participate in Simon benefits as defined in plan documents.
