GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, this role involves performing general labor and maintenance tasks for municipal parks, roadways, facilities, and infrastructure while adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in a maintenance team focused on the upkeep of sports fields at the Texas Bank Sports Complex.
  • In the absence of the Crew Leader, assumes leadership responsibilities for crew members, overseeing the comprehensive maintenance of the sports complex, including turf management, infields, playgrounds, parking areas, sand volleyball courts, structures, fencing, and equipment.
  • Main responsibilities include operating and maintaining various machinery such as rotary and reel mowers, tractors, skid steers, weed eaters, trimmers, chain saws, and other tools essential for maintaining designated areas.
  • Responsible for the upkeep and enhancement of parks and sports fields, which includes tasks such as applying pesticides and fertilizers, aerating turf, mowing, trimming, litter collection, building maintenance, fence work, planting, weeding, watering, and tree pruning.
  • May assist with the installation and repair of irrigation systems.
  • This position involves light construction, pesticide application, and other related tasks as assigned.
  • Operates specialized equipment and performs general labor to maintain parks, streets, infrastructure, and municipal facilities as required; duties may vary based on assignments and individual skills; responds to emergencies as necessary.
  • Conducts maintenance and repairs within the scope of authority, adhering to all safety regulations and procedures; reports safety hazards, equipment issues, and emergency situations.
  • Utilizes and maintains a variety of tools and specialized equipment.
  • Assists in the upkeep and repair of parks and roadways; maintains landscaping and grounds; removes trash, brush, weeds, and debris from roadways, structures, and facilities.
  • Responsible for cleaning and maintaining municipal facilities; performs minor repairs; assists in the construction of new facilities and the installation of equipment.
  • Handles hazardous materials in accordance with municipal policies and procedures.
  • Work hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with potential for overtime, weekends, and holidays (30-minute lunch).
  • Regular and punctual attendance is essential.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent; two years of general work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Required Licenses or Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from their state of licensure.

Required Knowledge of:

  • Municipal policies and procedures.
  • Safety regulations, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.

Required Skill in:

  • Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Following verbal and written instructions and procedures closely.
  • Possessing a working knowledge of turfgrass, infield, and tree management.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Work is primarily conducted outdoors.
  • Ability to perform strenuous labor for extended periods; capable of working in extreme weather conditions.
  • Requires constant physical effort and the ability to lift and carry up to 117 pounds.
