Job Summary

The Charge Nurse is a critical role in the surgical services department, responsible for directing and overseeing the daily activities of the unit on an assigned shift. This position requires strong leadership and organizational skills, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee the daily activities of the unit on an assigned shift
  • Manage individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing
  • Ensure the delivery of quality care in designated surgical services area while meeting standards as set forth by the State, regulatory agency and facility policies and procedures
  • Promote teamwork with all surgical team members and other departments
  • Manage supplies and equipment effectively

Requirements

  • Associates Degree Nursing or Technical Diploma/Certificate Nursing Required
  • 2 years Clinical nursing experience in a surgical services area Required
  • Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact state license Upon Hire Required
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • ACLS Provider (ACLS) American Heart Association within 90 Days Required
  • National Institutes Of Health Stroke Scale (NIH) within 90 Days Required
