Key Responsibilities:

As a Retail Sales Associate at Petco, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing prompt and courteous service to all guests, answering their questions, and addressing their concerns in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Determining the needs of guests and sharing product knowledge to suggest the appropriate merchandise, taking into account their lifestyle, preferences, and budget.
  • Effectively employing suggestive selling techniques to increase individual sales, while ensuring that our guests feel valued and respected.
  • Performing all aspects of point-of-sale service, including handling cash, credit, and debit transactions, as well as processing returns and exchanges.
  • Contributing to a positive and inclusive store environment, fostering a culture of teamwork and mutual respect among colleagues and guests alike.
  • Staying up-to-date on product knowledge, including new arrivals, promotions, and sales, to effectively communicate with guests and drive sales.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to achieve sales goals, meet productivity standards, and maintain a clean and organized store environment.
  • Providing excellent customer service, resolving issues promptly, and escalating concerns to management as needed.
  • Participating in visual merchandising and store displays to create an engaging and inviting shopping experience for our guests.
  • Adhering to company policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, and complying with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of our products, services, and promotions, to effectively communicate with guests and drive sales.
  • Building strong relationships with guests, colleagues, and management, to create a positive and inclusive store environment.
  • Participating in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge, and stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
  • Contributing to sales growth and profitability, by driving sales, increasing customer loyalty, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by management, to support the overall success of the store and the company.

What You'll Need:

To be successful as a Retail Sales Associate at Petco, you'll need:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with guests, colleagues, and management.
  • A strong passion for animals and a desire to work in a pet-related environment.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Basic math skills, with the ability to handle cash, credit, and debit transactions accurately.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and resolve issues promptly.
  • Basic computer skills, with the ability to operate a point-of-sale system and other retail technology.
  • The ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 1-2 years of retail experience.
  • A valid driver's license, if applicable.

Salary Range:

The estimated salary range for this position is $25,000 - $35,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Location:

This position is located in a busy Petco store, with multiple locations throughout the US market. Applicants must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to travel to other locations as needed.
