Associate Director of Bands/ Assistant/Associate Professor of Music

Alcorn State University seeks a highly qualified Associate Director of Bands/ Assistant/Associate Professor of Music to join our faculty. The successful candidate will assist the Director of Bands with the organization, direction, and management of the Alcorn State University Band program regarding Athletic and Academic Ensembles.

• Assist the Director of Bands with the organization, direction, and management of the Alcorn State University Band program.
• Perform duties as a faculty member of the Fine Arts Department as designated by the Chair.
• Teach instrumental pedagogy/methods courses, music technology, and other classes as assigned.
• Conduct large and small ensembles, and model large and small music ensembles rehearsal techniques.
• Participate in faculty-led lectures, recitals, workshops, and recruitment.

• Master's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related music field from a NASM accredited degree program.
• Doctorate in Music Conducting, Music Technology, or Music Education preferred.
• Teaching license preferred but not required.

The successful candidate will work in a noisy area and will be required to exert up to 20 pounds occasionally and in excess of 100 pounds. Travel and extended work hours are frequent.
