Stationary Engineer

As a Stationary Engineer at Mount Sinai Health System, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Central Plant equipment. Your responsibilities will include inspecting, operating, maintaining, and repairing complex systems such as cooling towers, pumps, fans, engines, generators, turbines, liquid chillers, compressors, and compressed air systems. You will also be responsible for supervising others engaged in work in the Central or Refrigeration Plants and performing any and all related duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, or Plant Manager.
Responsibilities- Act as a Stationary Engineer in Training, observing motors and gauges to determine the operating condition of equipment and regulating the flow of gas, oil, and water for proper control of boilers and auxiliary equipment.
- Evaluate operating conditions and detect malfunctioning of equipment, regulating starting devices, adjusting levers, throttles, speed controllers, pressure regulators, pumps, generators, and other controls of auxiliary equipment.
- Periodically inspect equipment to determine the need for adjustments and repair, making chemical tests of water in boilers and altering the content of chemicals as required.
- Operate and regulate chilled water generation equipment and all related systems, working closely with the KCC Boiler Plant Stationary Engineers and other staff as required.
- Use BAS and other operator computerized controls systems to make adjustments and monitor system operation, taking remedial action as required in response to alarm conditions or system failures.
- Inspect, operate, monitor, and maintain as required other Central Plant and Life Safety Equipment such as emergency generators, automatic switching equipment, Motor Control Centers, combustion air or HV fans, Fire Pumps, and Central Plant exhaust systems.
- Operate and monitor systems for the conveyance of medical gases such as medical air, medical vacuum, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, etc.
- High School Diploma/GED
- 3 years of experience as a journeyman in Mechanical or Electrical Field
- Proficiency with all hand and power tools required, as well as basic electrical testing with Volt-Ohm Meters, Amprobes, etc.
