About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated District Nurse Float to join our team at the Georgia Department of Public Health. As a key member of our public health team, you will play a vital role in providing professional nursing care to the community.

Responsibilities
  • Provide professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Assess each patient's condition, develop a plan of care, provide treatments, educate patients, and make referrals as appropriate.
  • Screen and refer clients to other community service providers.
  • Provide treatment, administer medications/vaccines, and provide preventive and maintenance care to patient/families consistent with care plans and public health protocols.
  • Advise clients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.
  • Participate in drills and exercises on pandemic influenza, mass sheltering, and mass dispensing.
  • Complete all necessary orientation, training, and preceptors.
  • Provide outreach services and other key preventive health services to the community.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university or Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse AND current CPR certification.
  • Public Health experience and trained as an expanded role nurse.
