Position Overview:
The Athletics Department is looking for dedicated individuals to serve as Academic Support Specialists for student-athletes. This role involves providing tutoring services across a wide range of courses available at the institution. Candidates should be prepared to assist in subjects such as:
- Accounting
- Anthropology
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Economics
- Mathematics
- Psychology
- And many more
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting tutoring sessions with student-athletes, either virtually or in person.
- Providing clear explanations of course material and effective study strategies.
- Completing a session report within 24 hours of each meeting.
- Maintaining accurate records of tutoring hours and submitting bi-monthly timesheets.
- Adjusting tutoring time based on the individual needs of student-athletes, typically ranging from 1-2 hours per week.
Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Achieve a grade of B+ or higher in the subjects to be tutored.
- Provide a reference letter from a professor or previous employer.
- Exhibit strong communication skills and a patient demeanor.
- Be adaptable to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Demonstrate respect for and ability to engage with a diverse student-athlete population.
Employment Conditions:
Applicants must be enrolled as degree-seeking students, maintaining at least half-time status. A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher is required.
