Job Summary

The Senior Advancement Content Writer will play a key role in supporting the development and implementation of strategic communications plans to engage and inspire alumnae and donors. This position will be responsible for researching, writing, editing, and copy editing a variety of content pieces to promote the college's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Cultivation, Proposal, and Stewardship Efforts
    • Research and write customized proposals and other correspondence to alumnae, donors, and friends of the college.
    • Develop talking points and background papers that provide the case for college priorities and can be adapted for individualized proposals and other communications.
    • Research and write solicitation letters, emails, and other content that encourages regular giving to the college's annual fund.
    • Assist with the development of other printed and digital communications that support the college's fundraising efforts, recognize donors, and reinforce the positive impact of donor support.
  • Support Alumnae Engagement
    • Research and write strategic, innovative, and inspiring content for newsletters, website, and social media platforms.
    • Propose creative and innovative ways to connect with alumnae and donors.
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop compelling content.
  • Support Special Projects and General Editorial Needs
    • Review and edit written materials generated by staff to ensure quality and consistency.
    • Participate in relevant staff meetings and planning sessions.
    • Copyedit department materials as needed.
    • Adhere to and promote the college's and the department's communication plan and branding standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and seven years or more of proven professional business, proposal, or journalistic writing experience.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members and colleagues across the college.
  • Excellent research, writing, and editing skills, as well as demonstrated grammatical and proofreading skills.
  • Knowledge of AP style.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and translate complex information into clear, concise, and compelling content.
  • Ability to adapt writing style to a variety of situations and audiences.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, etc.), Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, etc.), Drupal, WordPress, and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
