Job Title: Medical Support Worker

Job Summary:

The Medical Support Worker at Duet plays a vital role in supporting nursing staff in providing medical care to individuals with various needs. As a key member of the individual support planning team, you will work closely with colleagues to provide the necessary support for our clients to maintain their independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support nursing staff in administering medical care to clients with various needs
  • Work collaboratively with the individual support planning team to develop and implement program goals
  • Provide transportation to appointments and events in the community
  • Assist in training new employees and maintaining a clean and safe environment
  • Perform daily living needs, including grooming and hygiene, grocery purchasing, menu planning, household management, cooking, and care of clothing
  • Ensure the upkeep and appearance of environments, including household cleaning and yard care
  • Manage financial needs, including entering transactions, balancing accounts, and assisting clients with budgeting
  • Provide community access needs, including planning and organizing recreational activities and providing transportation as needed

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Active on the Nebraska nurse aide registry is helpful but not required
  • 2 years' experience in human services preferred

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to read, understand, and effectively utilize written materials and directions
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to lift at least 70 pounds
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, walk, sit, stand, climb, push, carry, and grasp
  • Will be exposed to and drive in all weather and traffic conditions

Essential Driver Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to individuals boarding or exiting the vehicle
  • Ensure that all ambulatory individuals are seated and seat belts are properly used and secured
  • Ensure that individuals in wheelchairs are properly secured in the van prior to departing
  • Maintain van safety in accordance with all Duet policies and procedures
  • Keep van interior clean at all times
  • Transport or assist in transporting passengers in a safe, comfortable, and responsible manner in all weather and traffic conditions
