About the Job
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research and Development Engineer to join our team in North America. As a Research and Development Engineer, you will play a key role in driving the development of new products and technologies that meet the needs of our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment and Instrumentation Design and Development
- Design, develop, and implement safe, reliable, sustainable, and economically viable equipment and instrumentation on the laboratory scale.
- Lead and support the transfer of processes and products to production.
- New Product Development
- Think big and inspire those around you to connect the dots differently, unleashing new possibilities to develop the materials, technologies, and products of the future.
- Network among the most innovative partners in high-potential business fields to influence and educate external gatekeepers about the capabilities and advancements at SCHOTT.
- Support SCHOTT business units via technical consulting, customer interaction, and evolutionary product development.
- Project Management
- Lead cross-functional teams, plan, and manage resources to test (concept to launch) new materials, processes, technologies, and products.
- Communicate effectively via presentations, pitches, and written reports.
- Contribute to the development of IP.
Requirements
- Degree (e.g., BS, MS) in electrical engineering, instrument/equipment design, or a related field.
- Experience in designing, developing, constructing, and validating laboratory scale equipment and instrumentation.
- Formal education/training and experience are only a part of the composition of a successful candidate. The rest of the composition contains elements of a passion for the intersection of materials science, technology, product development, and business; the ability to develop and leverage networks; demonstrable leadership skills; a hunger for discovering new ideas and turning them into reality; a real-world intelligence that combines existing concepts with the unknown; and a limitless curiosity.
