Job Summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Pharmacist to join our team in the Pavilion at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. As a key member of our pharmacy leadership team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our ambulatory/retail pharmacy services, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise daily pharmacy workflow, ensuring all assigned work is completed and transitioned appropriately to the next shift.
  • Resolve staff and operational issues, communicating with upper-level management as needed.
  • Manage technology issues and escalate as necessary.
  • Manage staff coverage and attendance, ensuring appropriate coverage and redistributing tasks as needed.
  • Establish daily goals for the designated team to ensure performance expectations are accomplished in a timely manner.
  • Address staff performance, escalating challenges to ensure individual and operational success.
  • Monitor and document staff performance for performance evaluations.
  • Manage purchasing and inventory issues, including loaning/borrowing medications and managing blood factor product consignment.
  • Review, evaluate, and approve or deny non-formulary requests when Drug Information services are unavailable.
Requirements
  • Pharmacist License with the PA Board of Pharmacy (required).
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required).
  • PharmD from an accredited college of pharmacy (preferred).
  • At least 2 years of Hospital pharmacy experience (Note that each residency year counts towards experience).
  • PGY1 Pharmacy Residency (preferred).
