Central Sterilization Technician

Job Summary:
The Central Sterile Technician at Good Samaritan Hospital is responsible for ensuring the sterilization of medical instruments and equipment in accordance with established procedures, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reprocess and assemble specialized instruments and equipment for operative areas.
- Lift and transport heavy items weighing up to 50lbs to designated areas.
- Identify, maintain, and prepare instruments and equipment for availability.
- Operate specialized equipment, including washers, steam sterilizers, and decontamination equipment.
- Test steam sterilizers and washers regularly and document required information.
- Ensure correct inventory numbers and restock equipment and supplies as needed.
- Scan instrument sets using current programs in the CS department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Two years' experience in Central Service preferred.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Central Service Technician Certification from an accredited organization, such as IAHCSMM or CBSPD boards, or equivalent.
Additional Information:
Current staff working under NY State Law A00878, hired for a cumulative period of one year, occurring within the four years immediately prior to the effective date of this law, who are not certified are grandfathered to the position and must provide 10CEUs per calendar year.
