About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Age Site Administrator to join our team at the YMCA of Delaware. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our school age programs, providing exceptional care and support to our children, and promoting a positive and inclusive environment for all.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage the daily operations of our school age programs, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Provide high-quality care and support to our children, including feeding, supervision, and engagement in activities.
  • Develop and implement daily age-appropriate classroom activities, including literacy, health living, STEM, and physical activities.
  • Observe and document children's progress and development, communicating effectively with parents and staff.
  • Ensure the facility and equipment are clean, well-maintained, and free of hazards, completing required program documentation.
  • Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development trainings.
Requirements
  • At least 20 years of age and meet one of the following qualifications:
  • Option 1: High school diploma or equivalent and 12 college credits in recreation, elementary education, school-age care, or school-age administration, with 6 months experience working with children kindergarten through sixth grade.
  • Option 2: High school diploma or equivalent and 6 college credits in recreation, elementary education, school-age care, or school-age administration, with the school-age bundle offered by the Delaware Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood, and 6 months experience working with children kindergarten through sixth grade.
  • Option 3: High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of the school-age bundle offered by the Delaware Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood, with 12 months experience working with children kindergarten through sixth grade.
  • Complete a physical and tuberculosis screening, and provide a physician's documentation within 30 days of hire.
  • Successful completion of a comprehensive criminal history, child abuse, and adult abuse background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Multi-lingual skills
  • Prior experience working with youth in a group setting
  • Develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
  • Flexible and willing to accommodate the needs of the early childhood community and staff team
  • Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops
  • Ability to persuade and influence others
  • Knowledge of early childhood/school age education programs and techniques
  • Knowledge of child development theory and practice
