Job Summary

The Child Care Director is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of a quality early care childcare program that complies with current Delacare and Delaware STARS rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the licensed preschool/childcare and summer camp program.
  • Interpret and maintain compliance with current state licensing requirements for early care childcare centers.
  • Control expenditures against an assigned budget and recommend income and expense projections.
  • Ensure safe implementation of all childcare activities, including equipment and facilities maintenance.
  • Directly supervise children and youth within guidelines established by Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware.
  • Maintain regular contact with parents/guardians concerning programs, schedules, and developmental progress.
  • Work with families to generate individual learning goals for children.
  • Organize and lead activities to promote physical, mental, and social development.
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' needs and interests.
  • Arrange indoor and outdoor space to facilitate creative play, motor skills, and safety.
  • Regularly observe, evaluate, and document children's performance, behavior, and social development.
  • Conduct assessments to determine children's development levels, needs, and potential.
  • Develop and maintain systems for accurately tracking attendance, payments, health checks, and medical issues.
  • Complete and submit reports and perform other administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements
  • Twenty (20) years of age or older.
  • Experience working with preschool and school-age children.
  • Must be able to pass an FBI clearance, State of Delaware Criminal History Background Check, National and State Sexual Abuse Registry check, and National and State Child Abuse Registry Check per Delacare regulations.
  • High school diploma or its equivalency recognized by the Delaware Department of Education and TECE 1 and TECE 2.
  • One (1) year of full-time experience working with either preschool or school-age children.
  • Early Childhood Administrator Certificate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • School-Age Administrator Certificate.
  • Associates degree in a related field (early childhood, psychology, social work, special education, elementary education).
Work Environment

The Child Care Director will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interactions with children, parents, and staff. The position requires the ability to multitask, work under stress, and make decisions quickly and accurately.
