The Department of Neurology at RWJBarnabas Health is actively seeking a full-time faculty member specializing in adult epilepsy to fill a position at the assistant or associate professor level within our esteemed NAEC Level 4-accredited Epilepsy Center.
Position Overview:
- The selected candidate will become part of a dynamic Epilepsy team, which comprises four adult epileptologists, five pediatric neurologists and epileptologists, an advanced practice nurse focused on adult epilepsy, neuropsychologists, and three neurosurgeons specialized in both adult and pediatric epilepsy.
- Our department is home to an ACGME-accredited Epilepsy fellowship, offering training for a duration of 1-2 years.
- The epilepsy division is known for its active and expanding epilepsy surgery program, which includes resective surgery, laser ablation, and intracranial neuromodulation techniques. Additionally, we perform stereo-EEG intracranial monitoring and stimulation mapping, employing various imaging modalities for surgical evaluations and conducting leading clinical trials alongside other funded translational and research initiatives.
- The clinical campus is situated in a vibrant college town, providing options for suburban or urban living with convenient access to major metropolitan areas and attractions.
Candidate Requirements:
- Applicants must have completed an ACGME-accredited neurology residency and fellowship training in epilepsy and/or clinical neurophysiology, and hold Board certification in Neurology.
- Board certification in Epilepsy or clinical neurophysiology is expected.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in epilepsy surgery evaluations and intracranial EEG interpretation.
Clinical Duties:
- Responsibilities will encompass surface and intracranial EEG video monitoring, intraoperative electrocorticography, bedside intracranial EEG functional mapping, as well as inpatient and outpatient care for epilepsy and neurology.
- Support will be provided by a dedicated neurology residency program and skilled neurodiagnostic technologists.
- Teaching responsibilities will include mentoring medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees.
- Participation in industry-sponsored clinical trials, collaborative research, and scholarly activities is anticipated.
- Engagement in departmental and institutional meetings, community service initiatives, and collaborative opportunities with RWJBarnabas Health and affiliated faculty and staff is expected.
