Job Title: Medical Coding II

Lakeland Regional Health-Florida is seeking a skilled Medical Coding II to join our team. As a Medical Coding II, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient data, which is essential for reimbursement and statistical purposes.

Responsibilities:
  • Review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to extract data and apply appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and/or HCPCS codes and modifiers.
  • Communicate with physicians, physician advisors, or other hospital team members to obtain optimal documentation to meet coding and compliance standards.
  • Abstract clinical and demographic information into the computerized patient abstract.
  • Participate in ongoing continued education to assure knowledge and compliance with annual changes in coding rules and regulations.
  • Identify areas for education to improve complete and accurate coding and billing and provide feedback to management regarding trends or patterns noticed in the coding.
  • Continuously review changes in coding rules and regulations, including Coding Clinic, CMS, and other payer guidelines.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma with Associate Degree from an accredited HIM program or certificate in coding from an accredited college.
  • 2-5 years acute care hospital inpatient coding experience within the past five years.
  • CCS certification is essential, and RHIT or RHIA certification is preferred.
