Job Summary

Lakeland Regional Health-Florida is seeking a skilled Coder II to join our team in the Outpatient Coding department. As a key member of our coding team, you will be responsible for assigning and sequencing diagnostic and procedural codes using appropriate classification systems, ensuring accurate and complete coding for outpatient encounters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign and sequence diagnostic and procedural codes using official coding guidelines
  • Abstract and enter coded data, ensuring accurate and complete coding for outpatient encounters
  • Maintain appropriate level of coding and abstracting productivity and quality
  • Continuously review changes in coding rules and regulations

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Associate Degree from accredited HIM program or certificate in coding from an accredited college
  • 2-5 years acute care hospital outpatient coding experience within the past five years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
