As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Colorectal Surgery department, your role will involve:

  • Delivering high-quality patient care to a diverse patient population.
  • Performing patient care tasks, documenting care activities, administering medications, and monitoring patient health.
  • Maintaining and restocking medical supplies and equipment.

The ideal candidate will:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and document both objective and subjective patient data.
  • Contribute to nursing assessments and report findings to the RN or authorized healthcare provider.
  • Implement nursing care plans as directed by the RN or authorized healthcare provider.
  • Document and communicate patient responses to care plans and treatments.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families.
  • Participate in the orientation of new staff members, sharing knowledge and experiences.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development within the nursing field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program.
  • Current Ohio License as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • If working in an Emergency Department, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required upon hire or within one year.

Experience:

  • One year of patient care experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform full body motion to lift and move patients.
  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are essential.
  • Extensive standing and walking are required.
  • Must have corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges.
  • Medium Work - Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Adhere to standard precautions and utilize personal protective equipment as necessary.
