Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our Pediatric Gastroenterology team at Corewell Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing clinical support to our healthcare professionals, ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate efficient patient flow, preparing patients for visits and providing specific services and education as determined by providers.
  • Perform administrative duties, maintaining and monitoring electronic health records, and ensuring all information is current and updated.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment, work area, and equipment, reporting any malfunctions to the appropriate department/unit personnel.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams, demonstrating empathy and respect.
  • Collect and monitor patient data, reporting patient needs and documenting care according to guidelines.
  • Engage in quality improvement activities, monitoring processes for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality, and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Participate in continuous learning, staying up-to-date with best practices and maintaining professional competence, knowledge, and skills.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program required.
  • 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting preferred.
  • One of the following certifications required within 120 days: AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or NAHP.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 120 days.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with no weekend frequency.
