Medical Assistant Gastroenterology Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our Gastroenterology team at Corewell Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will provide clinical support to healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate efficient and effective patient flow, preparing patients for visits and providing specific services and education as determined by providers.
- Perform administrative duties to ensure all information is current and updated, including maintenance and monitoring of electronic health records.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment, work area, and equipment, and communicate any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate department/unit personnel.
- Communicate with patients and significant others in a caring and respectful manner.
- Collect and monitor patient data, reporting patient data and needs as directed.
- Document care consistent with documentation guidelines and patient chargeable items/services according to standards.
- Engage in process and quality improvement activities to ensure continuous monitoring of quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program required.
- 1 year of relevant experience working in a physician practice or healthcare setting preferred.
- AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA), NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA), or AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 120 days.
This role requires frequent standing, walking, and reaching, as well as occasional forward bending, trunk rotation, and squatting. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 25 pounds is also required.
