IMI Industrial Services Group is seeking a full-time Mechanical Design Specialist to join our team in the Athens, GA area. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating mechanical and structural designs using CAD software, collaborating with project managers, estimators, fabricators, and erectors to deliver high-quality projects.
Essential Functions- Design and Detailing: Utilize CAD software to prepare detailed designs of mechanical systems and structural assemblies, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Design Analysis and Optimization: Analyze design requirements and recommend changes to improve design efficiency or offer better value, ensuring client satisfaction.
- Bills of Materials and Estimation: Create accurate bills of materials to estimate costs, ensuring project feasibility and budget adherence.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work with external architects, engineers, and detailers as necessary, coordinating projects with sales and production departments to ensure seamless execution.
- Quality Control and Assurance: Check drawings of other draftsmen to minimize errors, providing timely responses to inquiries from purchasing, production, and installation teams.
- Education: Associate Degree from an accredited university or technical school specializing in mechanical or structural design.
- Experience: Demonstrated mechanical design and/or structural detailing experience with SolidWorks is preferred, but not required. Excellent CAD skills and proficiency using software designed for detailing are essential.
- Skills and Qualifications: Proven work history on miscellaneous metal detailing, outstanding ability to read and understand construction specifications and drawings, and proven understanding of both fabrication and installation.
- Sitting and Standing: Sitting for extended periods and standing or walking for long periods are required.
- Manual Dexterity: Manual dexterity is necessary for repetitive tasks and operating standard office equipment.
- Lifting and Carrying: Lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting items weighing more than 25 pounds with assistance.
