Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Dean for the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at Stony Brook University. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the school, with a focus on financial management, workforce strategy, and school administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management and Planning: Develop and control the school's budgetary resources, including budget forecasting, planning, and expenditure approvals. Provide proactive leadership in establishing long-range budget plans and enforcing financial processes.
  • Workforce Strategy and Development: Provide leadership and advice on short-term and long-term staffing solutions, conduct analyses of faculty and staff salaries, and supervise direct reports.
  • School Administration: Develop and implement changes to operational policies and procedures, advocate on behalf of the school, and represent the interests of the school at on-campus and off-campus meetings.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, workforce strategy, and school administration.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
