The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) is committed to enhancing highway safety and security through exceptional service, education, and enforcement. Our team of nearly 4,300 professionals is devoted to this mission, positively impacting the safety and well-being of all Florida residents and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct formal administrative hearings in accordance with relevant Florida Statutes.
- Address inquiries from involved parties regarding the hearings.
- Draft final orders that include comprehensive factual and legal analyses related to driver licenses.
- Perform additional duties as required to support the Bureau's mission.
Essential Qualifications
- Proven expertise in legal research and writing.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of Florida Statutes, the Florida Administrative Code, and applicable federal statutes.
- Ability to make informed and objective decisions based on relevant information.
- Capacity to prepare for and conduct hearings effectively.
- Ability to thrive in high-pressure situations and work independently.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage work assignments efficiently.
- Ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships.
Preferred Experience
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of two years of legal experience, particularly in conducting administrative hearings. Exceptional research and writing skills are essential, along with the ability to convey complex legal concepts in an understandable manner.
Job Requirements
- This position is subject to a Level 2 background check and Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance.
- The selected candidate must be a member of The Florida Bar in good standing.
- A valid driver's license in good standing is required, and a review of driving history will be conducted.
- Travel may be necessary for this role.
