Medical Surgical Nurse with a Focus on Patient Experience

About the Role
At St. David's Medical Center, we are committed to delivering exceptional patient care and creating a positive work environment for our nursing staff. As a Medical Surgical Float Pool Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in achieving these goals.
Job Summary
- You will be responsible for performing patient assessments, developing a plan of care, and implementing and evaluating care as part of the interdisciplinary care team.
- You will formulate a plan of care, revise the plan based on the patient's response to treatment, and regularly evaluate the plan for effectiveness.
- You will administer medications and complete treatments according to hospital policy, delegate tasks appropriately to non-licensed staff, and provide pre- and post-operative patient care.
- You will also provide education materials to patients and families on care and treatments, facilitate discharge plans in collaboration with the care team, and promote a culture of safety and quality within the hospital.
Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough patient assessments to identify medical conditions and develop individualized plans of care.
- Plan Implementation: Implement care plans, ensuring that all aspects of patient care are met, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications accurately and safely, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
- Task Delegation: Delegate tasks effectively to non-licensed staff, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and training to perform their duties.
- Education and Discharge Planning: Provide education and support to patients and families on care and treatments, facilitating smooth transitions to home or other care settings.
Requirements
- Education: Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Experience: 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Licensure: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Texas
- Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 60 months of employment start date
