About the Role
Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists is seeking a skilled Veterinary Surgery Ward Nurse to join our team in Buzzards Bay, MA. As a member of our surgery team, you will have the opportunity to utilize your skills while continuing to learn and grow your expertise.
Responsibilities
- Obtain vital signs, provide food, and monitor patients for pain/comfort following surgical procedures.
- Check IV catheters for patency and bandages for fit and cleanliness.
- Administer oral and intravenous medications according to doctors' orders.
- Walk postoperative patients, using assistance when required.
- Communicate directly with the surgical nurses and surgeons regarding patients.
- Maintain ward cleanliness, including laundry and washing dishes.
- Assist the surgical nurses and assistants by restraining pets for radiographs when necessary.

Requirements
- Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or technician, with the knowledge of and the ability to administer oral and intravenous medications confidently.
- Ability to solve mathematical equations for medication dosages.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Ability to apply critical thinking to problem-solving.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Lifting and restraint of pets at least 50 pounds and the ability to work on feet most of the day.
