Job Title: Senior Accountant

Children's Rescue Fund is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to provide accounting support to our locations and programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing accounting functions, maintaining financial records, and ensuring accurate data for analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately code and prepare expenses and invoices for data entry into our accounting software.
  • Prepare monthly expense reports for current funding sources.
  • Provide accounting support to the Executive and Financial Management Team.
  • Maintain logs and fiscal records for accurate data analysis.
  • Assist with bank reconciliation and upkeep of bank binders for all sites.
  • Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Enter periodic payroll entries and reconcile payroll accounts.
  • Assist with special projects and run ad-hoc reports.
Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate effective communication with staff within an interdisciplinary context.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Participate in training and staff-development activities to acquire and maintain necessary skills.
  • Maintain required job skills and core professional competencies.
  • Assist with special interdepartmental assignments as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting with four (4+) years' experience performing accounting functions in a non-profit office setting.
  • Background in non-profit required.
  • Detail-oriented with significant knowledge of payroll administration, including state and federal regulations.
  • MS-Office preferred, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience working with ADP and MIP databases preferred.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Other Requirements:
  • May be required to work long hours and a varied schedule.
  • Travelling throughout various locations in the New York City area.
  • Lifting and moving objects weighing up to 30 pounds several times a week.
