We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Civil Mechanic to join our team at the H&K Group's Pocono Lake Division. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and organized individual to repair and maintain electric, diesel, and gasoline vocational trucks in a fast-paced heavy civil construction environment.

Job Overview

  • The successful candidate will have a strong background in diesel mechanics and a proven track record of performing routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment.
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies.
  • Read job orders and observe and listen to trucks or equipment in operation to determine malfunction and plan work procedures.
  • Install new ignition systems, align front wheels, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts.
  • Replace gas or diesel engines.
  • Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and equipment, and adjust.
  • Lubricate and service vehicles.
  • Fabricate special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to schematic drawings.
  • Collision repair, sand, prep, and paint.
  • Complete all standard maintenance on trucks and equipment and ensure state inspection requirements are met for cars, trucks, and trailers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school in diesel mechanics or a related field OR 2 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Class A or B CDL or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Customer Service and Teamwork.
  • Mathematical Skills.
  • Willing and able to work a 2nd shift schedule.
  • Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job).
