**Job Summary**
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will perform a variety of accounting assignments, record and report financial transactions, reconcile accounts, and ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting theory, principles, practices, and regulations, including FASB/GAAP and SOX compliance.
**Key Responsibilities**
• Support and participate in the monthly financial statement close process, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions and analysis of financial statements and variances.
• Prepare, review, and analyze account reconciliations for companies and/or designated functions, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements.
• Prepare monthly reporting packages, including analysis of current actual results to prior period actual results for use in internal and external reporting.
• Interact with internal and external auditors, Controller's Group, and Business Units as required to accomplish goals.
**Requirements**
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of related experience.
• Demonstrated technical knowledge and understanding of Accounting theory, principles, practices, and regulations, including FASB/GAAP and SOX compliance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
**Preferred Qualifications**
• MBA with a concentration in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA.
• Public accounting experience.
• Regulatory/utility/FERC/SEC reporting or energy industry experience.
