Veterans Home LPN

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice Veterans Home in Hot Springs, South Dakota. As an LPN, you will provide patient care within the scope of practice, preparing and administering prescribed medications and treatments, IV therapies, maintaining medical records, and monitoring the work of subordinates to ensure quality care is provided and in compliance with patient care procedures and department policies.
Key Responsibilities- Apply basic nursing principles, practices, and techniques following established healthcare procedures and standards.
- Operate in a patient care environment where the focus is on the healthcare of individuals.
- Seek guidance and advice from more experienced colleagues and focus on gaining knowledge and experience to perform more independently and participate in work of higher complexity.
- Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or eligible to be licensed in the State of South Dakota.
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practices, recent developments in the field of professional nursing applicable to the area of assignment, and clinical procedures.
- Ability to keep records, follow instructions, operate a variety of medical equipment, make reports on observations, apply general nursing techniques and practices, maintain a helpful and sympathetic attitude toward patients, communicate effectively, and deal effectively with patients and staff.

Reduced tuition for continuing education and some flexibility of shift may be available. Onsite, low-cost housing may be also be available; cost is dependent on square footage.
This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08. Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation.
