Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Service
    • Prepare and serve food to patients, visitors, and staff in a safe and courteous manner.
    • Follow proper food handling and preparation procedures to ensure food safety and quality.
    • Operate and maintain food service equipment and utensils in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Food Storage and Inventory
    • Store food and supplies in a clean and organized manner, following HACCP guidelines.
    • Conduct regular inventory of food and supplies to ensure accurate par levels.
    • Rotate stock to ensure oldest items are used first.
  • Food Receiving and Handling
    • Receive and inspect food and supplies from vendors to ensure quality and accuracy.
    • Store food and supplies in designated areas, following HACCP guidelines.
    • Dispose of food and supplies in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Cleanliness and Sanitation
    • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, including equipment and utensils.
    • Follow proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures to prevent cross-contamination.
    • Report any food safety concerns or issues to supervisor.
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, flexible.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Serve Safe Certificate.
  • Food Service experience.
  • Cash handling.
License, Certification & Clearances
  • Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
  • Travel may be expected locally between Independence Health locations.
