This Certified Phlebotomy Technician and Front Office Associate role is a Full-Time position (40 hours/week).
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage patient schedules and optimize patient flow.
- Guide patients to changing rooms and assist with gowning.
- Collect and document patient medical histories and necessary paperwork.
- Initiate IVs and perform iSTAT tests as required.
- Provide clear explanations of procedures to patients.
- Prepare patients for CT and MRI scans, ensuring proper positioning.
- Assist with challenging patient interactions and examinations as needed.
- Coordinate and reschedule patient appointments, communicating essential information to staff.
- Welcome and check in patients and visitors courteously, verifying necessary details.
- Maintain updated schedules for physicians and technologists.
- Handle phone inquiries, screen calls, and relay messages effectively.
- Prepare patient charts for upcoming visits and update profiles accordingly.
- Type correspondence as directed and manage mail and medical records.
- Oversee the waiting area, ensuring smooth patient movement and addressing any issues.
- Perform daily email checks and manage office equipment.
- Order supplies as necessary.
- Participate in required meetings.
- Uphold patient confidentiality at all times.
- Support the Front Office department as needed.
- Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT) from the CDPH is required.
- CPR certification is mandatory.
- High school diploma or GED is essential.
- Minimum one year of experience in a medical office or imaging center is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous.
- Proficient in word processing and computer applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is expected.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- High organizational skills, integrity, and attention to detail are crucial.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Capability to work with minimal supervision.
- Understanding of insurance processes, including Commercial and Managed Care.
- Basic knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding is beneficial.
- Familiarity with healthcare protocols and medical office procedures is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to assess patient education needs and communicate effectively.
- Capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care protocols.
- Professional demeanor and the ability to project a positive image.
- Compassionate approach in interactions with patients and families.
Work primarily occurs in the CT and MRI departments, with frequent interactions and interruptions. Candidates must be able to stand for extended periods, operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movements, and communicate verbally to exchange information. Lifting up to 10 pounds may be necessary. Visual acuity, with or without correction, is required for computer use, and normal hearing range is essential for effective communication.
