Correctional Officer Trainee

This is a trainee position that involves the completion of the New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD) Training Academy and field training.
Key Responsibilities- Attend and participate in the NMCD Training Academy within 12 months of hire.
- Successfully complete the training program.
- Work in a correctional facility, supervising inmates and performing daily tasks.
- Pass pre-employment screening, including background investigation, agility testing, and psychological testing.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Valid New Mexico Driver's License.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Good moral character.
- No felony convictions.
- Pass physical or aptitude examinations as required.
Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with and supervision of inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
