We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated Assistant Professor of Chemistry to join our Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Providence College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and mentoring undergraduate students in the areas of chemical biology or biochemistry, as well as conducting original research and contributing to the department's academic and research endeavors.
Key Responsibilities- Teach lecture and laboratory courses in general and organic chemistry, as well as more advanced courses in biochemistry
- Develop and maintain an active, externally funded research program involving undergraduate students
- Mentor and train undergraduate students in the research laboratory
- Contribute to the department's academic and research endeavors, including service on departmental committees and participation in faculty governance
- Engage in collaborative research with faculty members from other departments and institutions
- Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field
- Postdoctoral experience is preferred
- Strong teaching and mentoring skills, with experience in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff
- A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with experience in creating and implementing inclusive teaching and research practices
