Job Summary

OU Health - 700 NE 13th seeks a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. As a key member of our sterile processing department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and sterility in the preparation and processing of medical instruments and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble and wrap instrument sets to ensure proper sterilization and storage.
  • Operate and maintain autoclaves, sonic cleaners, and other equipment to ensure proper sterilization and cleaning of instruments.
  • Inspect instruments to ensure they are clean and in good working order prior to sterilization.
  • Decontaminate instruments using proper chemical mixtures and procedures.
  • Test and operate autoclaves to ensure proper sterilization.
  • Participate in the routine cleaning and decontamination of department work surfaces.
  • Complete sterilization log sheets to track and record sterilization processes.
  • Identify and notify appropriate personnel of inventory or supply shortages.
  • Perform tasks necessary to prepare and maintain accurate Case Carts.
  • Coordinate with operating room staff to ensure proper supplies for each case are delivered as needed.
Requirements
  • 6 months of related experience.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and sterilization of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Knowledge of applicable sanitation and hygiene standards.
  • Knowledge of proper safety practices of steam and gas plasma sterilization.
  • Knowledge of simple record keeping principles and practices.
  • Skill in understanding and following verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Effective customer service skills.
  • Able to read, spell, and do simple math.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
