Lead Network Security Engineer

Location: Remote

Key Responsibilities

  • The Lead Network Security Engineer is a senior technical role requiring expertise in networking and security systems.
  • This role involves identifying, researching, and assessing security solutions and emerging technologies that align with the strategic objectives of the organization.
  • A strong understanding of security principles, including HTTP compliance, application-level security, and endpoint protections, is essential.
  • The engineer will be responsible for deploying new security technologies and maintaining existing security infrastructure.
  • A solid troubleshooting background is necessary, along with knowledge of APIs.
  • Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various business units and coordinate efforts across multiple teams.

Required Technical Skills

  • Network routing and switching
  • Firewall concepts and functionalities
  • WAF and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS)
  • Proxy and user access management
  • VPN configurations, both site-to-site and end-user
  • Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB) and server load balancing
  • Knowledge and experience with TLS
  • Understanding of HTTP protocol
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and automation
  • Tier 3 operational support experience

Preferred Technical Experience

  • Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP
  • Firewall technologies: ASA, PaloAlto, and Juniper SRX
  • Router and Switch: Cisco CCNP level knowledge
  • F5 technologies: ASM, DNS, APM, AFM, including knowledge of iRules
  • Experience with reverse proxy solutions (Kemp/NGINX/HA Proxy)
  • Experience with user proxy technologies
  • Experience with Cloudflare WAF/DDoS/Rules/etc.
  • Experience with Network Access Control (NAC) implementations (ClearPass, ISE)
  • Experience in Public Cloud Security, particularly AWS
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python
  • Knowledge of attack surface management
  • Understanding of penetration testing techniques and methodologies
