As a Hemodialysis Technician at SSM Health, you will play a vital role in providing direct and indirect care to patients undergoing hemodialysis treatments. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing patients for procedures, setting up and monitoring equipment, and documenting patient conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Prepares patients for procedures by taking vital statistics and reviewing dialysis orders and lab work.
- Sets up and monitors equipment for procedures both during and after.
- Notes and documents patient's condition during procedure via observation, interview and monitoring of vital statistics; reports abnormal assessment findings.
- Contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
- Obtains, processes and transports blood samples and culture specimens as ordered.
- Demonstrates proficiency in performing dialysis treatments and in cannulation of vascular access.
- Monitors and trouble shoots dialysis machine and RO/water system.
- Participates in quality improvement activities to include collection of data and machine maintenance.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one year of Chronic and/or Acute Hemodialysis experience.
As a Hemodialysis Technician at SSM Health, you will work in a fast-paced environment with a team of dedicated healthcare professionals. You will be required to stand and walk constantly, use your hearing and speech to communicate with patients and colleagues, and use your vision to identify and distinguish colors.
